Is the drug mobic an effective pain killer for bone cancer? ? I have a friend who's mother is diagnosed with terminal bone cancer and the pain being experienced is quite severe so am wondering if mobic is a sufficient pain killer or if she should be prescribed to receive a stronger pain medication like barbiturates and the like...i mean is it right that this (mobic) is the only pain medication prescribed if she is in tremendous pain whenever she moves from a certain position?

terra replied: "Mobic is indicated for arthritis. Your doctor is bound by oath to keep your pain under control as much as possible. Barbiturates are not pain killers. bone cancer is extremely painful and she needs to talk to her doctor about some stronger pain meds."

Jeromo F replied: "My friend used Tramadol ( - ) for one year. It is not the best medication I can advice, but it is useful. You can use Herbal Soma too"

texas girl replied: "Mobic is not for that. Since she has already been diagnosed its best you dont get involved in her medical recovery by giving her medication that the doctor has not prescribed for her. She needs to call her doctor and let him know she needs something stronger.hope she feels better soon."

Can the drug Mobic cause extreme fatigue? My doctor prescribed Mobic for me and since I started taking it I have felt horrible! I'm tired and flushed feeling and I feel so unwell. Has anyone else experienced this?

hummersathome replied: "I took it but did not get that reaction at all. Instead, I felt a little weird in the head and kinda shaky. I stopped taking them because after a few days, it started upsetting my stomach and causing me to have painful BM. (IF anything, I had more energy). Everyone reacts differently to medications. Report your symptoms to your doctor (make sure the doctor gets the info and not the nurse). You can also go on Medline and type Mobic and it should give you the side effects. It is a very good anti-inflammatory but does not work for everyone."

Any one out there taking or has taken the drug Mobic, the generic name is Meloxicam??? My husband was prescribed this. And I was wondering if anybody has had any side effects while taking this paticulare medication?? He also takes Diovan for high-blood pressure, yet they still gave him this drug. From what I'm reading on the internet, I'm finding that if you have high-blood pressure, you shouldn't take this? Just wanted information from anyone on this drug.......good or bad?! Thanks!

Popcorn replied: "I have used Mobic. It is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body such as inflammation caused by arthritis. I found it to be very mild and really did not help my osteoarthritis. I did not have any side effects. Yes Diovan works by blocking a hormone that tightens blood vessels, and causes them to relax. If both medications were prescribed by the same doctor, he usually considers all of the possible interactions. When you read the literature of all the medications, you will find LOTS of information. It is necessary to declare any and all side effects that were experienced during the clinical phase. It is important that you are careful with each new medication. Be sure to identify any side effects that your husband gets when he starts the medication. I often will start one at a time, and then see how it sets. I have only found one or two meds that did not work for me. Just watch, and if you see a problem, stop using the medication and call the physician. However, i think you will be fine with these two meds."

crossing drugs/mobic,tequin? outcome of mixture

matador 89 replied: "woolew5, Mobic or meloxicam is a type of medicine called a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). NSAIDs are used to relieve pain and inflammation. Tequin or gatifloxacin also named Tequin Teqpaq is an antibiotic in a group of drugs called fluoroquinolones. is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, sinuses, skin, and urinary tract. It is also used to treat certain sexually transmitted diseases and may also be used for other purposes. Before you use these two drugs together, you should be aware that coadministration with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may potentiate the risk of central nervous system toxicity sometimes associated with fluoroquinolone use. The interaction has been reported most often with enoxacin. It may occur with other fluoroquinolones as well, but is poorly documented. The exact mechanism of interaction is unknown. Some investigators suggest that the piperazine ring of fluoroquinolones may inhibit the binding of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) to brain receptors and that NSAIDs may synergistically add to this effect. Patients with a history of seizures may be at greater risk. WARNING. Clinical monitoring for signs of CNS stimulation such as tremors, involuntary muscle movements, hallucinations, or seizures is recommended if fluoroquinolone antibiotics are prescribed in combination with NSAIDs. This coadministration should be discussed with both your doctor and your pharmacist before administration is commenced. Anyone else experience bladder troubles/recurrent uti's while taking mobic/meloxicam? I just read that is one of the common side effects after my husband pointed out that I started having real bad bladder troubles since I started taking them a couple months ago for unexplained leg pain. Since then I have had about three uti's and my bladder is always funny feeling with shooting tingling sensation after I pee...I only take the drug a couple times a week though.

KLeesia replied: "I'm sorry to say that I have been taking mobic every day for about three months now and I have had no bladder problems at all. But side effects for everyone are different. I am really sorry to hear that you are having all of these problems!!! I hope things clear up for you!"
